A beautifully made field journal owned by someone interesting — university-press restraint on natural materials, lit at night by fireflies. Expensive and warm; rigorous and free. One direction, held everywhere from the marketing page to the credential seal.
The world places an embargo on young people's brilliance — it demands they wait, sit still, and be measured by rooms they never chose. Atlas Academy lifts the embargo. Brilliance isn't created here; it's recognized and credentialed. Every brand decision serves that frame: we speak to what students already are, never what we'll turn them into.
The raw material. Already present; our job is recognition.
Real work, real places, real evidence. No simulations of learning.
The portfolio is the student's voice made durable.
Credentials are power. We put paper behind the person.
The BASE spine may structure content but never appears as a jargon wall. The firefly is the sanctioned metaphor family — light carried and signaled between people, points of light on a dark map. Used in motion and micro-moments; never captioned, never explained on the surface.
Atlas is the map and the one who carries the world. Academy is the word that travels: "high school" is a U.S. frame, but academies exist in every education tradition — from Athens to Accra to Singapore — and carry institutional seriousness in all of them. A global student body deserves a globally legible name. Transcripts still state plainly that this is a college-preparatory secondary program. Say the full name; never "AA."
| Level | Name | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Institution | Atlas Academy | The school of record. Wordmark, seal, transcripts, legal surfaces. |
| Program | The Season | The 12-week Costa Rica term; cohorts choose their six weeks. |
| Product surface | The Invitation / The Atlas Space | Marketing page / student-parent app (Phase 2). |
| Institution of record | A program of US-Squared Research Institute | Atlas Academy is a program of the institute, a 501(c)(3) (EIN 92-3221304). Legal, funder, and investor contexts, and the footer of family-facing surfaces. Never above the footer on family-facing pages. |
One voice, two registers: we speak to teens (respect, agency, zero condescension) and alongside parents (peace of mind, evidence, safety). Poetic only where it earns it. No platitudes, no hype-speak, no "unlock your potential" filler.
Natural materials carry the money: linen, handmade paper, honed travertine, botanical shadow-play. Brass appears only as hairlines, numerals, and seals. Firefly gold is reserved for night surfaces and CTAs. Every gold-on-cream pairing is contrast-checked — WCAG 2.1 AA minimum.
The brilliance is already there. We put it on paper.
A clean contemporary grotesque carries body copy, buttons, and app UI. Quietly modern, never techy. Black on light grounds, always.

The seal — a brass compass rose ringed by the name and motto — appears only at credential moments: transcripts, credit conferral, formal invitations. Embossed or foil-suggesting, always restrained. The connective graphic tissue everywhere else is cartographic: contour lines, coordinates, hairline compass points, and the firefly constellation of project sites.
prefers-reduced-motion always honored.Every surface must pass: would a 16-year-old feel owned by it? Would a parent trust it? Would an accreditor respect it? Would an investor fund it?
